1 may 2012 challenge

Time for our 1 May scrapbooking challenge!!

I realize that for the southern girls, this is not springtime – but  in the Northern Hemisphere – 1 May is springtime, and time to be out in the gardens.  Scrap something about your garden – how you love to be out in it, or what it means to you, or alternatively how you hate to be outside gardening at all.  If you are not a gardener -  you could also alternatively scrap about an outdoor sanctuary that you appreciate – perhaps your mother’s garden or a park????

Hi, I’m Monique Liedtke and I live in The Netherlands with my husband, 3 kids (Manon 15, Timothy 12 and Mats 7) and our Cocker Spaniel, Jippie. I started scrapbooking about 9 years ago and am totally addicted, there’s nothing I’d rather do! I don’t have my own scrap room, but I guess you could say I claimed just about the whole house, LOL! I would love to spend every day scrapping from morning till night, but as that’s not possible I work part-time in a small HR office in town.

My scrap pages are always full of colors and details. My favorite technique is sewing on my projects, both with the sewing machine and by hand. My favorite projects are mini-albums, but creating layouts is what I do most. I spend way too much time behind my computer hopping from one blog or online gallery to the next, on the lookout for fun projects. I love to participate in challenges and am very honored I was asked to be May’s guest designer for “Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge”! At the moment I’m on the design teams of Doodlebug Design and My Little Shoebox! Two of my very favorite manufacturers! I’m fortunate enough to have been published several times, a.o. in Scrapbook Magazine UK, Scrap Art Zine (Germany) and Scrapbook Trends. Leonie Neal-Dawson was a winner over at Stuck Sketches - and no wonder - what a gorgeous layout!!!!

I've just read about another blog closure - over at  Get Picky.  So many good ones have closed lately - Pencillines,  Scrapbookers Anonymous and Sketchy Thursdays, to name a few. Probably hard for many to get excited about playing along regularly with a blog because of the worry that they may pull the plug.  These were popular blogs with many entrants for each challenge.  Other blogs have lessened the amount of challenges they host.

We've been struggling with few participants, but have a respectable amount of followers and over 12000 hits since we began in July.  We are a friendly bunch, have no stringent rules, and would appreciate getting to know your work, and more importantly - YOU.  Why don't you consider playing along with our challenges???

Time for the 15th April 2012 scrapbooking challenge!

Using sketch 9 – April showers bring May flowers – scrap about a rainfall, or storm.  Perhaps the weather ruined your plans, or perhaps you were experiencing a drought or dry well and were relieved to see the heavens open.  Or you can scrap about anything in the springtime, how it makes you feel after the long winter, new life, whatever speaks of this time to you!! You might not want to scrap about your garden though, as you may be doing that soon here – hint, hint!!
